Pharmacy in History Call for Papers
	The editors of the Pharmacy in History invite historians to consider submitting a manuscript for inclusion in this peer-reviewed scholarly journal. Pharmacy in History publishes essays on the history of pharmaceutical practice, science, and industry, including the history of drugs and therapeutics and facets of the related medical sciences. Wellcome Centre for the History of Medicine is closing down
	Sad news for historians of medicine and pharmacy: The Wellcome Trust and University College London (UCL) have decided to close the Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine. It will be winded down over a two-year period, see. Apr-17-2010

Proceedings of the 39th International Congress
	All Speakers of the 39th International Congress for the History of Pharmacy in Vienna are kindly asked you to send a pdf file of the manuscript of the lecture to christa.kletter@univie.ac.at. To make all scientific congress contributions easily accessible and open to the public, they will be posted on the internet and not published as printed matters. In November, all posters, Power Point presentations, the abstracts and the manuscripts of the lectures, as far as the authors will provide them, will be available at www.pharmaziegeschichte.at. ISHP Research Fellowhip dedicated
	Meanwhile, the committee decided about the ISHP fellowship grant 2009. The grant goes to Dimitrous Koutroumpas from the University of Athens, Greece, for his Project "Galen's Pharmacology: Simple medicines and their theoretical model according to Galen". The jury decided do sponsor another project as well with a slightly lower budget. This research is done at Oxford University by Joan E. Taylor ("The Essenes and Dead Sea Pharmacology"). Oct-30-2008
Obituary Kárly Zalai
	We regret to announce that September 28, 2008, Profsoor Dr. Károly Zalai, Hungary, passed away at the age of 87. Professor Zalai served the society as president from 1982 to 1989. From 1990 to 1994 he acted as president of the International Academy for the History of Pharmacy and was thereafter elected as its honorary president. Professor Zalai had several other international duties, e.g. as Vice president of FIP, and wrote a large amount of scientific treatises. Oct-23-2008

International Congress 2011
	The ISHP Executive Committe recently decided to accept the application of the German Society for the History of Pharmacy to host the 40th International Congress for the History of Pharmacy. The Conference will be held in Berlin, in September 2011. May-28-2008
FIP session
	Again, a history session will be held during the FIP congress, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland, this year. A whole day, Tuesday, September 2, 2008, will be devoted to history. The program can be found here. May-08-2008
ISHP Research Fellowship
	ISHP will again give a research grant by the end of the year. Applications must be sent before September 1, 2008. Details are given here. Apr-22-2008

	The "tools"-site at ISHPs website is constantly improving. From now on, four different features are implemented: the Oral Presentations Database, a Literaturefinder, an Imagefinder and a grantfinder. For details click here. Apr-22-2008

Successful Congress in Sevilla
	220 Scientists visited the 38th International Congress for the History of Pharmacy, September 19-22 in Seville, Spain. More than 100 presentations were made. 	The scientific program of the Seville conference (September 19-22, 2007) has now been set up and is available here. Sep-12-2007
New Research Tool
	A first list of literature database relevant for research in pharmaceutical history is now impelemented on the "Tools" site. Links to the databases are given along with a short description of contents and retrieval strategies of the databases. More entries will follow and everybody should feel encourage to submit suggestions. Aug-22-2007

Approx. 120 presentations submitted for Seville
	After the final deadline for submission of abstracts, about 120 oral and poster presentations have been submitted suggesting a full and highly interesting conference program. May-25-2007

Pierre Julien deceased
	We are sad to have to inform about death of our colleague Pierre Julien who was Président d'Honneur of our French Société d'histoire de la pharmacie, as well as of the International Academy of History of Pharmacy. He was a historian of international reputation and very well known worldwide. Mar-14-2007
